Continuous Heart Palpitations

Heart palpitations are the sensations of a racing or pounding heartbeat. They can happen without warning or any specific pattern. They are not usually harmful although they can be associated with feeling anxious. They are often an indication of an abnormal heart rhythm.

Palpitations can be caused by:

  • Anxiety
  • Acute stress
  • Exercise
  • Caffeine
  • Pregnancy
  • Acute illness
  • Medications
  • Illicit drugs
  • Nicotine

Continuous heart palpitations or heart palpitations while lying down can be an indication of underlying heart disease therefore they may warrant further investigations by your physician.
