Ambulatory Blood Pressure Readings and Monitoring

Ambulatory blood pressure readings and monitoring involves a cuff and bladder connected to electronic sensors which detect changes in cuff pressure. The systolic (top reading) and diastolic (bottom reading) pressure readings are deduced through an algorithm built within the device. Readings are recorded throughout the day and night while routine activities continue. The guidelines recommend a recording of daytime averages to confirm diagnosis.
